The Name and Logo

The Michaelmas Goose.

Richard and I thought of retaining the name in the initial stages of deciding and planning what to do. But, some friends thought that we should change it into something simple, catchy and short. It was a totally new concept, one where we will be feeling our way and testing the market and its demands before we can truly say what it is. For me, it was a cafe that would serve coffees, teas, infusions, really good artisan cakes and pastries and a light menu of tartines and croques. Most of the names I came up with were very french...understandably because of my love affair with everything in french cuisine and Paris.

Vendome. Les Bouquinistes. Le Bijou. La Lune. Marais. Le Bon Plat. Rive Gauche. Le Ciel Bleu.

Richard said I should not brand it french as it would not be predominantly french. I gave in only on the condition that I would have my very own french brasserie after I have set up this cafe and using one of the names I have come up with to brand it.

Then he thought of Blue Moon Cafe. A bit old fashioned. What about Regent Street Cafe. 26 Regent Street. Twenty-Six. twentysix.

   FÉ & BISTRO

The green background is similar to the Farrow and Ball green we are using for the legs of half of the farmhouse tables. We thought we would put the coastal blue as accents in our packaging and decor.

The bird was supposed to be a logo that would make it very much ours but reminds us a bit too much of someone else' logo and we have ditched that idea. But I would still like a logo that would serve as our identity, be it swirls, spirals, lighthouse, shells, loaf of bread, silhouette of a slice of cake or a flower. It is still very much a work in progress.

Justin, a friend's fiance have been working with us closely to help us come up with our logo. He has been brilliantly creative and makes a lot of sense. He has even come up with a photo that would help us visualise the logo on our cafe...OUR cafe...MY cafe...my very own place...at last...
